UPLB BA Communication Arts (BACA) alumni gathered at the Baker Hall last July 6th in celebration of the program's 50th founding anniversary.

Themed "Medio Siglo: Balik-Tanaw, Tuloy-Daloy", the alumni homecoming reconnected graduates from across various batches to celebrate milestones, foster a sense of community, and reaffirm a joint commitment to honor, excellence, and service.

The program opened with a welcome message from UPLB's Department of Humanities (DHUM) Chair, Assoc. Prof. Katrina Ross A. Tan, PhD. Present to also share words of inspiration were UPLB Chancellor, Prof. Jose V. Camacho, Jr., PhD, and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Dean, Assoc. Prof. Chrysline Margus N. Piñol, PhD.

Adding fun to the nostalgic reunion were two intermission numbers by BACA alumnae—a song by "Kartoon Chemistry" vocalist Chochay Magno and a special dance number by UPLB Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (OVCSA), Assoc. Prof. Janette Malata-Silva, PhD. Select alumni also shared messages about personal and shared goals and successes. Capping off the celebration was a toast led by former DHUM Chair and UPLB Office of Initiatives for Culture and the Arts (OICA) Director, Prof. Jerry R. Yapo.

Since its establishment in 1974, BACA has been at the forefront of cultivating criticality and creativity in humanities scholarship, specifically in the mass media, academia, legal practice, research, and the creative and entertainment industries.
